"Pleasantly soft and spicy, with pretty berry and licorice flavors vying for attention as the fizzy texture flits past. Drink now. 5,000 cases made." (WS)

"Deep garnet in color, the NV Sparkling Shiraz offers aromas of warm raspberry preserves, red plums and mulberries with hints of licorice and chocolate. Medium bodied and medium-sweet with balancing acid and a medium level of chewy tannins, it has a good persistence of bubbles and a long finish. Drink it now. " (WA)

"Bright raspberry and cherry on the nose and palate, with subtle white pepper and spice notes adding vibrancy. Nervy and less sweet than most versions of this genre, with good back-end lift and tangy bite" (VM)

"Lots of licorice and tea leaf with meat and blackberry aromas. Full body, soft and lightly velvety sparkling red wine. Flavorful finish. Drink now." (JS)

"Plummy and chocolaty in profile, this medium- to full-bodied sparkling Shiraz remains surprisingly refreshing on the long, dusty finish. It makes for a crowd-pleasing introduction to the style. Joe Czerwinski" (WE)

Winery Notes:
Utilizing premium fruit from eminent wine regions in South Australia, The Chook struts affordable wines to be enjoyed and adored, shared and celebrated!

Since inception, The Chook Shiraz Viognier has scored an uninterrupted run of 90+ points by internationally recognized reviewers and was introduced to the USA by Epicurean from the first 2003 vintage. This was followed by the exceptionally popular Sparkling Shiraz under The Chook brand, a firm favorite in all markets.

Careful vineyard selection teamed with exceptional winemaking by Alexia Roberts and an emphasis on consistent varietal expression produces wines with approachability, generosity and character that really are something to cluck about.

This non-vintage wine sparkles to the tune of a well balanced blend; predominantly 3-5 year old Shiraz, aged in old French oak barrels showing wonderful smooth integrated fruit and a rich weighty texture across the palate. This is blended with a touch of younger vintage Shiraz bringing ripe juicy fruit characters to the finished product.

Fruit for the Sparkling Shiraz is sourced predominantly from premium grape growing regions in South Australia; namelyMcLaren Vale and Langhorne Creek.
