"An apple-accented Champagne, with enticing notes of ripe and juicy Jonagold apple and honeysuckle, weaving grilled nut, ground ginger and lemon glaze flavors on the finely detailed bead. Bright and mouthwatering finish. Disgorged November 2017. Drink now through 2022. 3,000 cases made, 1,000 cases imported. -AN" (WS)

"Based on the 2015 vintage, complemented by some 35% solera-aged reserve wines, the latest rendition of Philipponnat's NV Brut Royale Réserve was disgorged in September 2019 with eight grams per liter dosage. Offering up a lovely bouquet of golden orchard fruit, fresh peach, blanched almonds and honeycomb, it's medium to full-bodied, deep and complete, with a generous core of fruit, chalky structuring extract, and an elegant pinpoint mousse. While this Royale Réserve is already quite demonstrative, it will be even better with some bottle age." (WA)

"A very attractive and quite flavorful style with vibrant citrus and peachy stone fruit, leading to a palate that carries gently toasted cashews and quite a vibrant, fleshy mid-palate. Drink now." (JS)

"This producer's nonvintage cuvée is just right. It is balanced, the ripe apple and pear flavors are laced with acidity and citrus are, giving minerality as well as structure from the 65% Pinot Noir in the blend. This Champagne is perfectly ready to drink. -Roger Voss" (WE)

Winery Notes:
First pressing of 65% Pinot Noir primarily from Philipponat’s own vineyards with 30% Chardonnay, and 5% Pinot Meunier from the heart of Champagne region
