"This is expressive, exuding coconut, lemon, fresh ginger and toast aromas and flavors. Balanced. Builds to a long aftertaste of toast and hazelnut. Drink now through 2012. 28,000 cases made." (WS)

"The NV Brut Excellence opens with bold, racy aromas that lead to an exuberant expression of fruit. This medium-bodied Champagne comes across as somewhat wild and unrestrained, yet there is also an intriguing quality that is hard to fully describe. Most of the wine’s appeal is in its up-front fruit, as the intensity trails off a bit on the mid-palate. Structurally the wine is quite finessed, yet there are some awkward metallic notes that detract from the balance. The Excellence is 45% Pinot Noir, 42% Chardonnay and 13% Pinot Meunier, almost all of which is Grand Cru. There is approximately 24% reserve wine in the blend. The cork is labeled E 7275, and this bottle was disgorged in early September, 2007. Anticipated maturity: 2008-2011.

I was extremely impressed with the wines I tasted from Gosset. The house style is one of finely-sculpted wines that possess striking clarity and precision. Gosset favors oak aging for their top selections and malolactic fermentation is always blocked. The top of the line Celebris range sees very low dosage. From top to bottom this is an exceptional line-up from one of Champagne’s most historic houses." (WA)

"($45) Pale yellow-gold with a delicate bead. Pear, peach, minerals and honey on the nose, with a kiss of lemon. Light-bodied citrus and orchard fruit flavors are clean and fresh, with a subtle overlay of spices adding interest. Fills in with air and finishes soft, with good cling." (IWC)

"An upper register and solidly elegant nose of mostly floral and citrus notes framed by soft yeast nuances and round, gentle and delicious flavors that have a touch of sweetness to them on the moderately long finish. This is pretty and easy to like but lacks the depth of the very best NV Bruts in this report." (BH)

"A robust and classically styled Champagne, this is rich and creamy in the middle, braced by steely acidity. It feels clean and polished, a fragrant wine for plump littleneck clams." (W&S)
