"The Maraschino cherry and garrigue-scented 2019 Ventoux Les Gelinottes is a juicy, mouthwatering effort. It's medium-bodied, silky and fresh, with hints of pine resin and tree bark on the largely savory finish. Drink it over the next few years.

Like many of the large négociants in the Southern Rhône, Jaume offers a Ventoux as part of its extensive range. In this case, it's a reliable, juicy red for early drinking that sells for under $15 in the United States." (WA)

"From an appellation on the uptick, the 2019 Ventoux Les Gelinottes is another high-quality wine from this estate. Bright, medium-bodied aromas and flavors of black cherries and peppery, sappy herbs all emerge from this nicely textured, fresh, focused 2019 that has good concentration. The Ventoux is a cooler region, and this shows the wines more lively, fresh aromatics and focused texture. It will evolve for 5-7 years.

The Jaume family continues to produce a bevy of brilliant wines both under their estate Domaine Grand Veneur as well as a larger negociant range under the Alain Jaume label. This is an impeccably run estate, and readers should also look at the reviews on the estate Domaine Grand Veneur releases also in this report." (JD)

Winery Notes:
The wine is produced from hilly vineyards that are mainly planted on sandy and clay soils. They are located on the East side of the Rhone valley, in the Vaucluse area. Welcome to the foothills of the well known “Mont Ventoux” Mountain.

The color is intense, purple-tinged garnet. The aromatic range of the nose goes from fresh berries to black fruit (blackcurrant, blackberry). The palate is full-flavored, with very soft tannins and aromas of the fruit already mentioned. This is a gorgeous style of wine, fruity driven, for every day drinking...anytime!!
