BRAND NEW AMAZING RELEASE!!

"A savory undercurrent accents the green apple and lemon-lime flavors. Notes of sea salt emerge on the crunchy finish. Drink now. 5,050 cases made. -KM" (WS)

"GOOD VALUE, Clean and slightly juicy with a note of fresh blossoms set lightly atop elements of ripe pears and white peaches on the nose, this medium-bodied Chardonnay follows its aromatic lead with like-minded flavors that show a tad more intensity and fruity fullness, and its lime-like acidity dovetails nicely with its inklings of juicy sweetness as it brings its lingering flavors into lively balance. Reviewed: August 2020" (CG)

"Including a splash of Viognier and Marsanne, the 2018 Chardonnay Y Block offers a subtle bouquet of stone fruits, white currants, toasted spices, and brioche. It builds nicely with time in the glass and reveals a lively, elegant texture, medium body, good acidity, and a clean finish." (JD)

"Light on the nose, this bottling offers aromas of tight lemon peel, smashed rocks and seared apple. There's a solidly stony quality to the sip, where tightly wound flavors of lime flesh and citrus pith are nearly puckering. Matt Kettmann" (WE)

Winery Notes:
This is a classic cool climate Chardonnay made in a traditional style. Aromas of citrus, pears and nutmeg waft from the glass, with just a hint of vanilla and toasty oak from aging in barrel. Mouth-coating viscosity on the palate balanced by naturally fresh, crisp acidity. Completely dry, this is an elegantly balanced and structured Chardonnay.

Winemaking:
As with all our Chardonnays, this wine was made using traditional techniques: hand-harvested, whole cluster pressed, chilled for 48 hours in tank, then racked off heavy lees for fermentation. Qupe’s Y Block Chardonnay was 100% barrel fermented and aged in French oak— primarily François Fréres Burgundy barrels, 15% new. We aged this wine on lees for seven months then racked clean to stainless steel for blending and rest before bottling.
