"Mouthwatering lime, grapefruit and green apple flavors are tangy and bright. Drink now. 4,394 cases made. -MW" (WS)

"Light, bright straw. Fresh citrus and orchard fruits on the nose, along with hints of vanilla and honey. Silky and penetrating, offering juicy Meyer lemon, pear and bitter quinine flavors that flesh out and take a sweeter turn as the wine opens up. Finishes on a subtle floral note, with very good persistence and a late touch of gingery spice. Raised in French oak barrels, 11% of them new." (VM)

"Lightly lemony with a touch of sweetness and a mildly minerally note in both scent and taste and buoyed by plenty of crisping acidity on the palate, this slender, firmly balanced bottling shows little in the way of evident herbaceousness and takes on a trim of stony astringency at the finish that will be made moot when poured with food. Reviewed: August 2020" (CG)

"The 2018 Sauvignon Blanc is well done, offering classic grapefruit and citrus pith aromas as well as a clean, crisp, refreshing style on the palate. It has bright, tart acidity, sweet fruit, and a clean, dry finish, and will be incredibly versatile on the dinner table or with tapas." (JD)

"Editors' Choice, This is a brilliantly bright and fresh bottling, starting with lime-zest, crushed stone and cut grass aromas. The palate is zesty and zippy, loaded with lemon, grass and green-herb flavors, while a passion fruit splash lands on the finish. -Matt Kettmann " (WE)

Winery Notes:
Sauvignon Blanc, the noble varietal primarily responsible for white Bordeaux and Sancerre, is prized for its citrus and herbal flavors, and as well as refreshing acidity.

Drawing from vineyards in Monterey’s Arroyo Seco and San Lucas districts provides a nice combination of cooler and slightly warmer climate fruit sources. Bright acidity and grassy characters from the north are complemented by citrus and tropical flavors from the south.

The vintage commenced with precipitation much below average, though reservoirs remained full through the season after a very wet 2017. January and February were warm, resulting in premature budbreak in select parcels, increasing worries of frost as nighttime temperatures dipped below freezing on February 23rd and 24th. Luckily, no harm was done, and the following months saw temperatures at, and often below, seasonal averages. 2018 was a classically cool growing season in Monterey- an epic year for Morgan’s cool climate varietals.

The juice was tank fermented to preserve bright fruit flavors. Following fermentation, the wine was transferred to French oak barrels (of which 11% were new) for 5 months of aging. The 2018 Sauvignon Blanc features aromas of grapefruit, lime zest, and subtle gun flint. Flavors of pomelo and green peppercorn are lively and refreshing. A small touch of oak accents this medium body, high acid wine, by adding elegant texture to a long finish. An incredibly versatile wine, it’s a natural match for shellfish, seafood, and lighter summer fare.
