"The 2018 Syrah Purisima Mountain Vineyard is a fabulous wine that captures the essence of Ballard Canyon. Dark cherry, pepper, spice, leather and tobacco are all signatures of a Syrah that balances power, finesse and energy. Lavender, sage and dried herb overtones add an attractive savory character to the finish." (VM)

"Leading off the Syrah releases, the 2018 Syrah Purisima Mountain Vineyard is a larger production cuvée that was all destemmed and aged 18 months in barrel. Its deep ruby color is followed by a spicy, peppery Syrah with plenty of gamey, bacon fat notes, medium to full body, a rounded, supple texture, and a great finish. Drink this classy, character-filled Syrah over the coming 4-6 years." (JD)

"There's a subtle floral streak on the nose of this bottling, with crumpled violet, lavender and lilac aromas, but also tart elderberry and white pepper. Baked boysenberry and more violet shows on the rich sip. Matt Kettmann" (WE)

Winery Notes:
A slightly riper vintage than 2017, the 2018 PMV Syrah is loaded with blackberry and boysenberry fruits, chocolate, pepper, and PMV trademark gaminess in both flavor and aroma. Wonderfully rounded texture, with beautiful balance between all its parts – fruit, oak, tannin, acid and alcohol – the 2018 is another hugely successful vintage of PMV Syrah. Drinking very well upon release, the 2018 should evolve beautifully for the next 15-18 years!
