"The 2017 Chardonnay (Santa Barbara County ) is a gorgeous appellation-level wine. Bright, focused and wonderfully nuanced, the 2017 has so much to offer. The balance of aromatics, fruit and structure is beguiling. Lemon confit, almond, flowers and light tropical notes add complexity, but ultimately the 2017 is a wine to enjoy for its sheer deliciousness. Sierra Madre and Peake Ranch are the fruit sources." (VM)

"A stunning value, the 2017 Chardonnay Santa Barbara County comes from the Sierra Madre and Peake Ranch vineyards and was barrel fermented and aged 18 months in 50% new French oak. It offers a rich, powerful, quintessential California bouquet of orchard fruits, toasted spice, grilled bread, and white flowers. It's a ripe, sexy, yet flawlessly balanced effort that stays balanced, pure, and lengthy. It's a smoking value even at the $40 price point.

An up and coming estate readers need to check out is John and Gillian Wagner’s Peake Ranch. Located on the eastern/southern side of the Sta. Rita Hills, they produce a stunning array of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Syrahs. Prices haven’t caught up with quality, so these are still screaming values." (JD)

"Seared lemon wedge, toast and damp oak aromas show on the nose of this county-wide blend. There's a steely structure to the palate, where oak decorates the seared apple and grapefruit flavors, leading into a vanilla-kissed finish. Matt Kettmann" (WE)

Winery Notes:
This bright and energetic Chardonnay is everything we love about the Central Coast. The fresh notes of lemon zest, jasmine, apricot, freshly-fluffed cotton, and chamomile create grace within the glass. Pale, yellow stone in color and elegantly focused. Acid remains a dominant component of its structure, which makes this an ideal companion for a wide variety of dishes.
