"Pale, bright yellow. Intriguing aromas of Cranapple, lime, ginger and botanical herbs. Broad, spicy and energetic on the palate, showing a brisk touch of orange zest. The tactile, dusty back end displays sneaky rising length and subtle fruit-and-spice complexity. A very good vintage for this bottling. (12.5% alcohol)" (VM)

"A bright and floral riesling that has musky, fresh and floral perfume and a very bright, fine and crisp palate. This is quality. The finesse and detail really impress. Drink or hold." (JS)

"Brought up all in stainless steel, the 2017 Riesling Poet's Leap is racy and exotic, with a rocking bouquet of green citrus, lime zest, and mint. Fresh, medium-bodied, beautifully balanced, and with a juicy, off dry style, it's terrific stuff that can be drunk today or cellared for a decade or more.

The talented Gilles Nicault continues to manage this estate and all its different cuvées brilliantly. The key factor to understand with these wines is that each is made with consulting advice from a different winemaker. Hence, the style of each is unique, yet the quality is top notch." (JD)

Winery Notes:
Inspired by the great wines of Germany and winemaker Armin Diel, one of the most highly acclaimed Riesling producers and proprietor of the renowned Schlossgut Diel.

A wet, cool spring delayed bud break and bloom in 2017. Temperatures moderated in early summer, however, then warmed in July and August to drive heat accumulation a bit above average for the season, despite the late start. Harvest began towards the end of August, but then temperatures cooled considerably in mid-September to extend hang time and allow the grapes to reach full physiological maturity without spiking sugars. The resulting wines show excellent acidity and reflect the quality of the vintage across the board.

Juicy kumquat and lively grapefruit aromas and flavors are laced with hints of white peach and honey with a pleasing streak of minerality throughout. Beautifully balanced with just the right amount of racy acidity, the off-dry finish is long and clean.
