THIS IS SERIOUS JUICE FROM WALLA WALLA VALLEY, A TOUCHDOWN!!

"A blend of 87% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7 % Merlot and 6% Petit Verdot, the 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon opens to a dense and chewy core with a firm dark fruit presence, offering aromas of black raspberry, blackberry and dark currant with a firm stony minerality and a generous helping of oak. Full-bodied, the wine is tight and rigid with a tannic structure before giving way to a tight frame of black fruit that will need some time to mellow. Concluding with a long, lingering finish, a mineral tension and tannic edge remain persistent on the palate with residual flavors of cedar and blackberry skin. Do let this rest in the wine cellar for a few years before opening." (WA)

"Full medium ruby. Aromas of blackberry, cassis, licorice and graphite are a bit darker than those of the 2016. Densely packed, even a bit youthfully imploded, offering terrific energy and peppery vinosity to its chewy flavors of blackberry, cassis, licorice, bitter chocolate and minerals. Lovely salinity contributes nuance but there's also enticing fruit sweetness here. Finishes with surprising floral lift and sneaky length, with the chewy, building tannins in need of patience but avoiding dryness even in the early going. This savory, vibrant, firmly structured wine is more pliant and deep than the gripping 2016 but will require patience as well." (VM)

"A big, chewy cabernet blend with lots of extracted tannins that frame the rich, intense fruit. It’s a little old-school with all the concentration, yet it remains fresh and agile at the same time. 87% cabernet sauvignon, 7% merlot and 6% petit verdot. Needs two or three years to soften. Try after 2022." (JS)

"There are two Cabernet Sauvignon releases from this estate. Looking at the 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon first, it checks I as 87% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Merlot, and 6% Petit Verdot that was aged 23 months in new and once-used French oak. This gorgeous, full-bodied effort has a wonderful sense of purity and balance as well as classic notes of cassis, blueberries, graphite, charcoal, chocolate, and lead pencil shavings. It's one of the top wines in the vintage and will keep for 20-25 years or more. It's a wine that builds slowly with time in the glass, so give it a solid decant if drinking anytime soon." (JD)

"Cellar Selection, This wine is a blend of fruit from McQueen, Lefore, Bob Healy, Seven Hills and Figgins vineyards. Vibrant aromas of char, dark chocolate, coffee, cherry and barrel spice lead to a pleasingly restrained palate, with a tart snap of acidity. It shows the variety's sophisticated side. Best after 2025. -Sean P. Sullivan " (WE)

Winery Notes:
For former NFL Quarterback Drew Bledsoe, owning a winery has been a longtime aspiration that would allow him to combine his passion for fine wine and love of the Walla Walla Valley. Drew returned to his hometown in 2007 to plant his estate vineyard, McQueen, in SeVein Vineyards of Distinction. The following year, Drew launched Doubleback, an estate-focused winery with the goal to produce ultra-premium Cabernet Sauvignon from the Walla Walla Valley. To make this dream a reality, Drew collaborated with his childhood friend Chris Figgins of Figgins Family Wine Estates. Chris consulted on all winemaking and vineyard practices while training current Winemaker, Josh McDaniels, who assumed the role in 2015.

Since the first release, the 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon, Doubleback has received numerous accolades including a spot on the Wine Spectators Top 100 List. The vision for Doubleback remains to be a premium wine experience completely focused on quality. To further assist the production of high-quality Walla Walla Valley fruit for Doubleback, Drew acquired a second estate vineyard in 2011. Drew and Maura Bledsoe are committed to only using the best viticulture and winemaking practices to ensure that Doubleback will be one of the best bottles of wine you will drink.
