This I believe is the first time that I have seen, in America, the Loire Valley appellation of Menetou-Salon. This area produces wines from the north-east part of the Loire Valley and is just north and adjacent to the region of Sancerre, covering some 11 villages where its wines are made from the same varieties and under similar rules as its more well-known neighbor Sancerre. Certainly that’s true in the case of this classic tasting Sauvignon Blanc from the Domaine du Gaec Brangers, which I think is the most noted and respected producer of this appellation.

This crisp, well-balanced, harmonious 100% Sauvignon Blanc is an ideal example of the tastes and aromas one seeks in this very fine grape variety. Which include luscious pears and ripe Green Apples along with rosemary and marjoram like herbs plus an exemplary crisp and most appealing acidic level-ending with a long on the palate finish. All in all a real white wine winner, especially when you consider its discount price of $19.95.

Winery Notes:
This 100% Sauvignon Blanc is crisp and refreshing with rich, ripe lime and grapefruit aromas. Elegant, beautifully rounded, harmonious and well-balanced, a mineral sytle and a smooth and long finish. It is ideal as an aperitif and a great match with shellfish, smoked and grilled salmon, goat cheese.

DOMAINE DU GAEC DES BRANGERS is owned by the CHAVET family, which is one of the most reknown winemaking families of the Menetou-Salon Appellation. Philippe Chavet has been running the estate for 25 years and each year, his cuvees are awarded in the international competitions and by the international press.
