SUPERB "BEST BUY"

"The 2017 Estate Malbec was quite primary and young, with the high-altitude intensity of color, aromas and flavors. It's ripe (14.9% alcohol) but nicely balanced, with varietal aromas (violets, raspberries) and integrated oak aromas and flavors. A showy Estate Malbec, a good representation of what the grape can deliver in the high-altitude vineyards of Salta.

They have planted a further 1.5 hectares of Malbec in their Altura Máxima vineyard. And it seems like winemaker Thibaut Delmotte is back..." (WA)

"Bright, dark medium ruby. Lively aromas and flavors of crushed blackberry, licorice, bitter chocolate and mocha. Densely packed, fine-grained and savory, with its ripe, creamy flavors complicated by a wild gamey quality. As rich, concentrated and deep as this wine is, it's not over the top. This outstanding Malbec finishes ripely tannic and long, with compelling sweetness of fruit. (14.9% alcohol; this wine represents a blend of vineyards and altitudes in Calchaqui Valley; aged for 15 months in a mix of one- to ten-year-old French barriques)" (VM)

"Attractively concentrated style here with aromas and flavors deep in the plum and blackberry zone. Full and firm palate. Really flavorful and bold style. Drink or hold." (JS)

Winery Notes:
Wines of distinction have been crafted at Colomé, located in the upper Calchaquí Valley in the Salta region, since 1831. Sustainability is a key part of the farming practice for all of the estate vineyards that grow the world's highest elevation Malbec. Four estate vineyards are blended in the Estate bottling to achieve the best expression of Malbec, Argentina's best known grape variety.

La Brava Vineyard sits at 5,740 feet and yields intense and ripe fruit. Colomé Vineyard surrounds the winery at 7,545 feet and lends complexity and weight. El Arenal Vineyard at 8,530 feet gives elegance and freshness to the blend and Altura Maxima at 10,207 feet gives floral and mineral notes with fine grain tannins.

Colomé has the highest vineyards in the world. Higher altitudes offer much more sun, much less UV protection and produce a thicker skinned grape that delivers a more robust taste with fresh acidity to support it. Enjoyable upon release, this Estate Malbec will continue to reward with cellaring for several years.

Bright and intense in color with beautiful aromas of blackberries, red fruits and exotic floral notes, this wine delivers aromatics that entice the senses. A full lush entry of ripe and rich black fruit surrounds spiced oak notes and hints of pepper. Fresh acidity supports big, bold tannins and wonderful complexity.
