"Deep lurid red. Ripe spice-tinged red berry cherry and floral aromas along with hints of candied licorice and smoky minerals. Juicy and supple on the palate; a spine of acidity adds lift to sweet raspberry and cherry flavors. Deepens on the clinging red-fruit-driven finish which is shaped by smooth fine-grained tannins." (VM)

"This bottling from four vineyards, with 12% Mourvèdre, shows loads of crushed carnation, rose petal, cranberry and raspberry on the nose. There is a compelling freshness to the palate, with potpourri and lavender flavors meshing into a background of pomegranate and rosewater." (WE)

Tasting Notes:
We aim for weapons-grade fruit from our sundry Grenache vineyards, with the intent of producing killer Cigare, but sometimes we end up Clos (but no Cigare). The Alta Loma Vyd. has shown over and again that it produces incredibly pretty Grenache-spicy, pepper and floral. Beautiful opalescent ruby color with an exceptional spicebox nose: black pepper with hints of clove/gingerbread, bing cherry, red currant and Santa Rosa plum. Maybe slightly more texture than the very soft, plush 2013 vintage. This wine pairs exceptionally well with a range of dishes, not the least being peppered ahi tuna steak. Best served with a slight chill, especially as the weather warms up.
