"The 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon (Santa Ynez Valley) is full of the savory, rich flavors that make wines from Los Olivos so distinctive. Bay leaf, mint and licorice are some of the notes that emerge. Ultimately, the American oak Steve Beckmen uses for this wine has a dominating, overwhelming influence. My impression is that this could be a materially better wine." (VM)

"GOOD VALUE, Showing a very good sense of fruity substance in its ripe, slightly plumy, well-filled aromas along with a nice measure of loamy complexity that marks it indelibly as Cabernet Sauvignon, this well-made offering is even richer and more generously fruited than promised once in the mouth with lengthy, very continuous flavors that refuse to let up. It is a very tasty, wholly satisfying wine, albeit still young, with the balance and discreet underlying tannin to hold it in good stead for three to five years of age. Reviewed: April 2020" (CG)

Winery Notes:
Harvested from grapes grown at our Winery Estate, our Santa Ynez Valley Cabernet Sauvignon reflects the best qualities of Santa Ynez Valley Cabernet Sauvignon with its forward fruit and great acidic structure. The gravelly, well-drained soil and slightly warmer climate at the Winery Estate (compared to PMV) is a perfect match for Cabernet Sauvignon. Planted on the hilltops and slopes of the property where there is the least amount of top soil, the vineyard is planted with higher density to moderate the amount of fruit each vine has to ripen. Also the vineyard is planted with three great Cabernet Sauvignon clones each adding to the complexity of the finished wine.
