"The 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon (Napa Valley) is a gorgeous entry-level offering. Savory herb, blood orange, mint and floral notes bring an extra kick of freshness to the red and purplish berry fruit. Medium in body and absolutely impeccable in its balance, the straight Napa Valley Cabernet has a ton to offer. The core of this wine is Turnbull's Amoenus property in Calistoga, complemented with dollops of fruit from Fortuna and Weitz, both in Oakville." (VM)

"Redcurrants and red plums with a swathe of fresh, violet-like florals, leading to a palate that has a neat core of blueberry flavor and a succulent, juicy and long, fresh finish. The fruit persistence is impressive here. Drink or hold." (JS)

"This wine offers remarkable value for the quality—a stellar commingling of cranberry, cassis and black cherry. With a robust mouthfeel of plump juicy fruit, gun smoke and firm tannin, it shows integrated oak flavors and plenty of underlying acidity to remain fresh in the glass." (WE)

Winery Notes:
Made from all estate fruit from the Fortuna, Leopoldina, and Amoenus Vineyards, the Turnbull 2016 Napa Valley Cabernet is a great introduction to the Turnbull Winery. Winemaker Peter Heitz is garnering great acclaim for the work he's been doing at this small production facility, and it shows in this bottle. Of the vintage, Heitz says: “This wine captures the essence of where we farm in the Napa Valley. A wine of integrity, it’s a blend that we make to share at our own family table. A quintessential dirt to bottle wine that’s approachable at release and downright delicious.
