"Stereotypical Oz Shiraz to some extent, the 2016 William Randell Shiraz is big, ripe and heavily accented by American oak. Cedar and vanilla notes blend with rich, plummy fruit, those sweet notes brought together and balanced by savory dry tannins. It's a big-ass steak wine, one that will be appreciated by consumers at steakhouses around the world.

Between visits to the winery and the American importer, I may have tasted half of this large winery's offerings. There are several tiers of wines being produced, including some brands from outside the Barossa (which will be included in a subsequent report). Overall, the wines are solid, with quality generally increasing alongside price." (WA)

Winery Notes:
The William Randell range of wines were created in honor of our family ancestor - the esteemed pioneer William Richard Randell (1824-1911). The wines are sourced solely from grapes grown on our estate vineyards. Wines in this range are only made in exceptional vintages.

Deep red with inky purple hues. This classic Barossa style shows rich blackberry, licorice, spice plum and smoky oak on the nose. The palate is dense with ripe mulberry and berry compote and generous supporting oak. The tannins are savory and long with spicy refined finish.
