"The 2016 Heritage red blend has a medium to deep ruby color and a nose of crème de cassis, chocolate-covered blueberries, black cherry jam, vanilla and nutmeg with notions of herbs and pencil lead. The palate is medium to full-bodied with good intensity and youthful fruit character. It has a firm frame and just enough freshness, finishing long. 5,500 cases produced." (WA)

"Even if Syrah accounts for but 25% of this one's considerably varied cépage, its presence is clearly felt via suggestions of smoked meats and spice while its companion varieties provide a good deal of juicy, well-ripened fruit. Moderately full and balanced to firmness with a fair degree of extract and integral tannins for grip, the wine will pair nicely with hearty meat recipes in the short term but has the substance and structure to grow for several years and keep for several more after that. Winery Notes:
The 2016 Heritage Red is a bold blend of some of our favorite regions throughout the south-eastern parts of Sonoma County. Deep ruby in color, this wine offers luscious aromas of boysenberry, cocoa dust and a hint of black pepper. On the palate, bold tannins are balanced by decadent flavors of black-berry, blueberry and white chocolate with hints of vanilla and toasted oak.

The vintage 2016 vintage in Sonoma County was marked by high quality fruit and an earlier than average harvest. An early start to the growing season was followed by warm temperatures throughout the spring and summer. The grapes from this vintage were of high quality and quantity with a balanced acidity. We harvested the fruit from September 12 - October 2, 2016.
