Winery Notes:
STORY:
La Pinede takes its name from the regional dialect in the southern Rhone and their word for the Pinecones that can be found on trees throughout the region. Owned by the Familie Picard, it is part of a consortium of 5 family owned winemaking houses in the Loire, Burgundy, and the Rhone valley.

TASTING NOTES:
A dense purple color with aromas of cherries and wild berries. Hints of spice and earth are layered over blackberries and wild flowers. Medium to light body with spiced red fruit flavors and a harmonious finish.

VINEYARD NOTES:
The vineyard of Costières is with the amphitheatre of Nimes, the “Pont du Gard” or the “Abbatiale of St Gilles” the memory of a very rich history in this area. Located at the border of Languedoc and Provence, dominating the Camargue, it is the appellation the most southerly of the Rhône Valley. The soil is constituted of rocky alluvions of quaternaire from the Rhône and the Durance rivers and with clay in depth. The important variations of temperature between day and night, thanks to the breeze from the sea, preserve the acidity and the freshness of wines.

VINIFICATION:
Each varietal is sorted by hand as the harvest is brought in. Traditional fermentation is completed after a 3 day maceration. The wines are racked and finished in tank before bottling.

VINTAGE:
An exceptional vintage, 2016 produced a large crop, with growers able to take their time on the harvest during an perfect September.
