"Picked rather early and at moderate must weights, the 2016 Piesporter Trocken is predominantly from the Goldtröpfchen but also includes grapes from the Grafenberg. The wine opens with super ripe and intense fruit that reminds me of raisins. Full-bodied, very fruit-intense and a bit broad, this is a powerful and concentrated Riesling that lacks a bit of finesse and purity for my taste. The wine was aged on the lees until late April and bottled in May 2017. Tasted March 2018." (WA)

Winery Notes:
The Haart family has the longest winemaking tradition in the village of Piesport. With over 600 years of history, the Haart’s have shown a rare dedication and love for wine. Their estate is located at the foot of the Piesporter Goldtröpfchen vineyard and is planted to 100% Rieslings. In 2007 Theo Haart was named “Wine Maker of the Year” in the German Wine Guide - Gault-Millau.

Tasting Note:
Very deep Goldtröpfchen earthy notes here, that morph into an almond like profile. The palate is dominated by cassis, red fruit, pear and white peach. The structure is extremely resolute, with its laser like Riesling acidity.

Food Affinity:
Great to enjoy on its own, but also pairs well with salads, fish, poultry and spicy dishes including fusion cuisine.
