"Fine-edged, with crunchy green apple, ripe citrus and quince flavors, supported by zesty acidity. Toasty accents emerge on the buttery finish. Drink now through 2025. 761 cases made. -KM" (WS)

"The 2016 Chardonnay Woolsey Road Vineyard is whole-cluster pressed, fermented in barrel with bâtonnage and aged 19 months in 20% new French oak. Scented of apricot, lemon, almonds and honey toast, it has a core of melon and baked Golden Delicious apple with pretty floral perfume. Medium to full-bodied, notes of orange blossom and lemon segue into tangy Greek yogurt with nutty nuances and a touch of honeycomb. It's juicy in the mouth with lively acidity and a very long, savory finish with beautiful phenolic texture. 761 cases produced, to be released in October 2019.

In 2012, Ramey purchased its first vineyard, Westside Farms, on Westside Road in Healdsburg across from Williams Selyem. “It took us six years to get a permit,” David Ramey says, but now work is underway on a new winery and tasting room. The 75-acre property includes 42 acres of vines. Well known for their single-vineyard Chardonnays, Ramey will take a new approach to the Pinot Noir vines at Westside Farms, making broader appellation wines before narrowing in on single sites. “We are pinpointing areas within the vineyard to see what’s worthy of bottling as single-vineyard designates,” he says. Although Ramey makes about 35,000 cases of wine a year, they are still family owned, and David’s children plan to take over the winery from their father in the future. " (WA)

"The 2016 Chardonnay Woolsey Road Vineyard is one of the more overt wines in the range. Dense and exotic in the glass, it is rich, oily and immediately captivating. It will appeal most to readers who enjoy extroverted Chardonnays. Even with all of its richness, the Woolsey Road remains bright and nicely focused." (VM)

"Another Russian River release, the 2016 Chardonnay Woolsey Road Vineyard offers an exotic, complex bouquet of caramelized lemon zest, chamomile, and spice as well as a medium-bodied, round, nicely textured style on the palate. As with all of David’s wines, it has a solid spine of acidity as well as terrific balance." (JD)

"From a site in the heart of the appellation farmed by the Martinelli family, this wine is sparkling in acidity and crisp well-defined flavors of lemon rind and green apple. It explodes in apple blossom and jasmine aromas, with lovely balanced richness and body weight, the oak lending a layering of baking spice. -Virginie Boone" (WE)

Winery Notes:
"Coming from special vineyard sites, our Chardonnays show great depth of flavor, length of finish, aromatic complexity, and a fine balance between richness and delicacy. Typically, the climate is cool and the soil vigor low, producing graceful yet vibrant wines. This is our fifthbottling from this unique vineyard." -David Ramey
