"Rich and well-sculpted, with lemon-lime notes to the fresh-cut apple, quince and pear flavors. Minerally midpalate, offering refreshing saline and flinty hints on the structured finish. Drink now through 2024. 3,017 cases made. -KM" (WS)

"The 2016 Chardonnay Sonoma Coast comes mainly from Martinelli's Charles Ranch vineyard, with vines planted in 1982. Grapes are whole-cluster pressed and fermented in barrel with bâtonnage, then aged 12 months in 12% new French oak. It has a lovely toasty nose with buttered popcorn hints over lemon pith, soft melon and stone. Medium to full-bodied, it has concentrated ripe fruits in the mouth with accents of toast and roasted almonds, lifted by great tangy acidity and finishing very long and very lively. 3,017 cases produced, to be released in July 2019.

In 2012, Ramey purchased its first vineyard, Westside Farms, on Westside Road in Healdsburg across from Williams Selyem. “It took us six years to get a permit,” David Ramey says, but now work is underway on a new winery and tasting room. The 75-acre property includes 42 acres of vines. Well known for their single-vineyard Chardonnays, Ramey will take a new approach to the Pinot Noir vines at Westside Farms, making broader appellation wines before narrowing in on single sites. “We are pinpointing areas within the vineyard to see what’s worthy of bottling as single-vineyard designates,” he says. Although Ramey makes about 35,000 cases of wine a year, they are still family owned, and David’s children plan to take over the winery from their father in the future. " (WA)

"David Ramey's 2016 Chardonnay (Sonoma Coast) is a pretty, open-knit wine that will drink well upon release. Orchard fruit, lemon peel and white flowers all add brightness to this attractive, mid-weight Chardonnay. The 2016 is a wine of total precision and class. In this vintage, the Sonoma Coast Chardonnay is sourced exclusively from Charles Ranch. I loved it for its interplay of fruit and structure. " (VM)

"Plenty of white flowers, salty minerality, and lemon curd notes emerge from the 2016 Chardonnay Fort Ross-Seaview, a beautifully balanced, crisp, classic wine from Ramey that will keep for 7-8 years, probably longer. It’s also a great introduction into the style of wines of Dave Ramey." (JD)

"Nutty hazelnut and stony minerality combine seamlessly in this impressive white from the coastal appellation. Full bodied, concentrated and structured, it imparts steely, lively flavors of lemon peel and tangerine, finishing with a soft silkiness to the texture and overall balance of weight. Virginie Boone" (WE)

Winery Notes:
"Coming from a special vineyard site, our Sonoma Coast Chardonnays show great depth of flavor, length of finish, aromatic complexity, and a fine balance between richness and delicacy. This vineyard has typically cool climates, low vigor soil, and a vine selection that generate small berries, small clusters and inherently low yields." -David Ramey
