"The 2015 Pinot Noir Slander (long-time readers who have followed my career will know my affection for that name when it comes to Pinot Noir) is sourced from multiple AVAs, but primarily from Pinot Noir vineyards in the Russian River Valley and much farther south in California Central Coast’s Santa Rita Hills. Aged 10 months in 40% new French oak, it is a hefty Pinot at 15.2% alcohol and a relatively small cuvée of 1,552 cases. It is well-priced for its quality; a delicious, soulful Pinot Noir with yummy red and blackcurrants, cherries, underbrush and tobacco leaf. This deep ruby, round and juicy Pinot should be drunk over the next 4-5 years.

Orin Swift is the brainchild of a brilliant young man by the name of Dave Phinney. His Midas touch with grapes from seemingly anywhere in the world, is unusual, but the brilliance of the wines, his creativeness and unparalleled blending talents have built an incredible portfolio right out of the gate. He only started Orin Swift in 1998 and just recently sold it to the huge Gallo enterprise. Readers looking for personality filled wines of considerable character and complexity need to check out the Orin Swift offerings. They are not shy wines in any respect, but the quality is obvious, and if you are like me and believe that a wine is to be judged on just how delicious it is, you will be as impressed as I have been with the Orin Swift products." Winery Notes:
Bright ruby in the glass, the aromatics concentrate-cherries, raspberries, dried rose petals, a touch of sweet oak and a hint of forest floor. The entry is silky with a classic Pinot Noir palate: loads of ripe red fruit, savory undertones and a principled backbone of acidity. Balanced, lean and complex, the wine finishes softly at length.
