"Powerful, featuring focused and pure-tasting flavors of baked apple, pear and dried peach, backed by taut acidity. The spicy finish is well-structured, with flinty hints. Drink now through 2025. 1,037 cases made. -KM" (WS)

"The 2016 Chardonnay The Lioness Estate was barrel fermented and aged for about 16 months before being bottled unfined and unfiltered. It features ripe grapefruit, pineapple and white peaches scents with hints of beeswax, toasted almonds and lemongrass. Full-bodied, concentrated and decadently fruited, the palate features a wonderfully refreshing line of freshness and long, creamy finish. 1,037 cases produced." (WA)

"Slightly more expensive, the 2016 Chardonnay The Lioness is a similar color (slightly deeper) and has more reticent yet powerful notes of buttered orchard fruits, brioche, toasted bread, and white flowers. It's fleshy, medium to full-bodied, ripe and sexy." (JD)

Winery Notes:
As the next generation takes the helm, The Lioness pays homage to the women of the Hess Family who now lead the pride. This Chardonnay blends the abundance and power of Napa Valley with an agile touch of winemaking to showcase the estate fruit.
