"(one of the three barrels was new): Less expressive on the nose than the Tessons, conveying an element of reduction to its aromas of peach, citrus fruits and spicy oak. Densely packed and intense but youthfully tight, even a bit raw. This fairly large-scaled wine is a bit foursquare today and will need at least a couple years to unwind. Roulot recently pulled one of his Poruzots parcels for replanting; this 2017 is entirely from vines planted in the 1980s." (VM)

"Firm reduction masks the fruit at present. Otherwise there is a decidedly different mouth feel to the markedly more powerful and muscular flavors that possess excellent mid-palate density before concluding in a citrusy and austere finish that displays excellent depth and sneaky good length. This isn't particularly refined, indeed it flirts with rusticity, but I like the frank and bold delivery." (BH)
