"Ripe and lush in feel, with blueberry reduction, açai berry and plum sauce notes cruising through, enlivened by bright licorice and fruitcake details. A light brambly spine adds contrast on the finish. Best from 2019 through 2030. 950 cases made, 112 cases imported. -JM" (WS)

"The young estate has turned out some crazy good 2016s, including the "basic" 2016 Chateauneuf du Pape, a blend of 90% Grenache and the rest Mourvèdre and Syrah, all from the lieu-dit of Grand Pierre. Aged in concrete and neutral barrels, it shows terrific balance, matching black cherries and raspberries with hints of garrigue, and ample weight and richness on the palate with fine, silky tannins. Concentrated, flavorful and long, this should be available for around $50, making it a relative bargain." (WA)

"Bright ruby-red. Perfumed red and blue fruit aromas are complicated by licorice, garrigue and candied lavender nuances. Smooth and fleshy on the palate, offering sweet raspberry and cherry flavors that firm up slowly and become spicier on the back half. Smooth, harmonious tannins build slowly on a long, floral-tinged finish that shows no rough edges." (VM)

"Not yet bottled, the 2016 Châteauneuf-du-Pape is a full-bodied effort that shows the house style in its opulent, hedonistic style. Blackberries, cracked pepper and licorice notes emerge from this terrific classic cuvée that’s packed with sweet fruit, has moderate/low acidity, and a great finish. It will keep for a decade." (JD)
