"Medium to deep garnet-purple colored, the 2016 Senejac gives notions of crushed red and black cherries, mulberries and cassis with touches of earth, violets, chocolate box and cinnamon stick. Medium-bodied and laden with bags of juicy fruit, it has a soft structure and great length." (WA)

"The 2016 Sénéjac is wonderfully expressive. Savory, earthy and quite delicate, the 2016 is full of complexity and nuance. Sweet tobacco, dried flowers, mint and leather add shades of nuance to this pretty, inviting Haut-Médoc." (VM)

"Very charming and precocious with ripe-redcurrant character and a lovely combination of delicate sweetness and supple tannins on the palate, the finish long and silky. Drink or hold." (JS)

"Showing deep color, this wine is medium/full-bodied with soft tannins, an open personality and fresh, polished, earthy fruits in the finish. 7835 Views Tasted Apr 29, 2017" (JL)

IMPRESSIVE 2016 LEFT BANK BORDEAUX, A STEAL AT $19.95 2016 CHATEAU SENEJAC, Appl. HAUT-MEDOC

For decades I’ve appreciated and enjoyed various vintages of the Haut-Medoc vineyard of Chateau Senejac. A vineyard that covers about 75 acres and producers around 12,000 cases a year of a consistently pleasing red well worth its modest priced. Chateau Senejac is planted in 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, 14% Cabernet Franc and a 1% dab of Petit Verdot.

The 2016 brings the wines attributes of expressive velvety blackberries and cherries, very balanced refined tannins and integrated oak coming from the roughly 25% new barrels used each vintage. This certainly is one of the very top 2016 Bordeaux retailing normally in the $30 plus range and certainly an exceptional bargain at L. A. Wine Company for only $19.95. The wine will even gain with another 3 or 4 years bottle age and keep well into the early 2030’s.

Winery Notes:
The wines of Sénéjac are characterized by a deep color almost black in their young years. The very expressive nose exhales scents of black fruits and spices.

In mouth, Sénéjac presents a lot of fullness and intensity while remaining suave and civilized thanks to the smoothness of its tannins.

The wine of Sénéjac is a charming and distinguished wine to drink young for its fullness and its fruit or better still to let age slowly to find the race of its soil.
