The brilliance of Nicolas Thienpont and his team at Chateau Beausejour continues with yet another masterful 2016 vintage for their Grand Vin, which received 100 Points Jeb Dunnuck, and 99 points each from James Suckling and Antonio Galloni. Here is a rare opportunity to acquire the second wine, exceptional in its own right, and at a bargain price."

"Dark and plummy in feel, featuring cocoa and tobacco notes. Open-knit, with sweet toast coating the finish. Drink now through 2028. 875 cases made. -JM " (WS)

"The 2016 Croix de Beauséjour is a serious second wine endowed with quite a bit of structure that should allow it to age gracefully for 10-15 years. Smoke, scorched earth, tobacco, leather, licorice, spice and a whole host of dark flavors give the Croix its decidedly somber, brooding personality. The blend is approximately 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc, with the Franc giving the wine its aromatic and structural signatures. I would not be surprised if the 2016 shows even better than this note suggests in a few years' time." (VM)

"The clarity and freshness to this is most impressive with fresh herbs and hints of tobacco on the nose and palate. Medium to full body, firm and silky tannins and a radiant finish. Second wine of Château Beauséjour. Drink in 2023." (JS)

"The second wine of Château Beauséjour, the 2016 Croix de Beauséjour offers lots of currants and darker fruits, with a beautiful earthiness and tobacco character. It's medium-bodied, supple, and rounded on the palate, yet has plenty of density and depth." (JD)

"Medium-bodied, soft, supple textured, fresh, bright and offering an array of red fruits, tobacco, thyme and floral characteristics, this will be fun to drink early in life for its elegant textures and ripe berry notes. 1076 Views Tasted Sep 21, 2019" (JL)
