"Intense flavors of honeydew melon and pear tart dominate this supple white. The richly spiced finish shows some pastry notes. Drink now through 2022. 4,135 cases made. -KM " (WS)

"The 2016 Chardonnay Sta. Rita Hills offers up a bright bouquet of honeyed citrus, preserved lemon, apple and beeswax, framed by a touch of nutmeg-like leesiness. On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied, with lovely glossy texture underpinned by lots of cut, finishing with good length and grip. This is one of Brewer-Clifton's largest cuvées, and it's keenly priced too.

This was a lovely set of wines from Greg Brewer, and they were very expressive despite their recent bottling. Brewer observed that some of his cuvées even seemed a little more precociously fruity than they generally are so early in their lives. Whole cluster fermentation and neutral oak continue to be the order of the day here, and the style of these 2016s is very much what readers will be accustomed to from Brewer-Clifton, though my sense is that Brewer is picking just a touch earlier these days than was the case last decade." "Brewer-Clifton's 2016 Chardonnay (Sta. Rita Hills) is a gorgeous appellation-level wine. Orange peel, passionfruit, apricot and a whole range of tropical inflections give the 2016 much of its personality. Classy and impeccable in its balance, the Sta. Rita Hills Chardonnay has so much to offer." (VM)

Winery Notes:
With the goal of expressing a comprehensive expression of the appellation, we selected four unique vineyard sites to create this Sta. Rita Hills bottling. This blend is comprised of 3D, Machado, Acin and Hapgood vineyards. While each lot is handled separately and in a completely uniform fashion in the winery, each contributes vastly different expressions which ultimately harmonize in the finished wine.
