"Explosively fruity, this is redolent of blackberry compote, with notes of dried blackberry and dark currant. Fresh and juicy on the intensely spicy finish. Drink now through 2021. 3,250 cases made.–KM " (WS)

"The 2015 Alta Collection Malbec was sourced from young vines in San Pablo, a cooler place in the Valle de Uco, at some 1,350 meters above sea level. It fermented in stainless steel with indigenous yeasts and matured in new and second use French oak barrels for 12 months. It's quite ripe, with notes of plums, dark fruit and bittersweet flavors reminiscent of Morello cherries, and there's a spicy and smoky twist on the finish. 84,000 bottles produced.

Tapiz is championing new vineyards in a high-altitude zone (1,340 meters) of Tunuyán in the Valle de Uco, San Pablo, where they have a 452-hectare estate with vines they planted 17 years ago. They have the consulting services of Petrus guru Jean-Claude Berrouet. Now they also have a new winery in San Pablo, so Tapiz is really an independent winery from Zolo, though sharing the same ownership and team. They produce 40,000 bottles per vintage." (WA)

"(13.9% alcohol; from vineyards at 4,500 feet above sea level): Bright, dark red-ruby. Musky, resiny scents of black cherry, dark berries, mocha, black olive and roasted herbs. Quite suave and fine-grained, offering enticing mid-palate lift to the flavors of black raspberry, dark plum, menthol and smoky oak. Finishes with broad tannins, a touch of herbs and good subtle persistence. Jean-Claude Berrouet, the renowned Pomerol winemaker who worked with Christian Moueix for decades, is involved in the winemaking here, and it shows in this wine's suave texture." (VM)
