Winery Notes
This Cabernet Sauvignon comes from our best vineyard sites within Lake County and Sonoma County. The majority of the fruit comes from Lake County’s Red Hills where volcanic, rocky soils and dramatic mountainside vineyards provide intense wines of structure and concentration. The remainder is from Sonoma County’s Alexander Valley located in the north, and Sonoma Valley to the southeast of the region. The result is a synergy of intense flavors and distinction.

2015 was an exceptional vintage across the board! It began with an earlier than average bud break and warm temperatures throughout spring and summer. The warm growing season accelerated maturity and picking times, bringing intense, fruit forward flavors to the forefront. The berry sizes were smaller than average, thus having exceptional concentration and quality. We harvested all of the fruit from October 13-14, 2015.

After a three-day cold soak, the grapes were crushed and fermented at relatively warm temperatures in stainless steel tanks. After pressing, each lot was blended or egg-white fined depending on flavor, color and tannin concentration. The wine was aged for 10 months in American oak. Small portions of Petite Sirah and Merlot were added for balance, aromatics and flavor.

Winemaker's Notes:
Our 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon is sourced from select vineyards throughout Lake and Sonoma Counties. The unique dual appellation delivers richness and complexity. Deep ruby in color, this intensly fruit forward Cabernet boasts aromas of black cherry, blackberry, herbs and coconut shavings. The palate is concentrated with jammy fruit avors along with cassis and coconut oak. Its soft tannins and balanced acidity make this wine perfect for a family-style Italian dinner to share on any occasion. -David Nakaji, Winemaker
