"The most reticent and reserved of these Syrah bottlings, the 2015 Syrah The Deal Sundance Vineyard opens in the glass with notes of sweet red berries, potpourri and tapenade. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, firm and chewy, with an assertive chassis of structuring tannins. It will need more time than usual to round out and open up in this vintage." (WA)

"(from flood soil on the Wahluke Slope with a vein of volcanic sand running through it; vinified with 100% whole clusters in concrete, then aged in puncheons, 25% new, for 18 months): Bright, dark ruby-red. Pungent aromas of blackberry, pink peppercorn and black licorice. Juicy and intensely flavored but tighter and less sweet than Motor City Kitty and Milbrandt Syrahs, and more about finesse than primary fruit. Finishes classically dry, with serious tannins saturating the tongue and front teeth. (14.5% alcohol)" (VM)

"All from the Sundance Vineyard on the Wahluke Slope, the 2015 Syrah The Deal (100% Syrah, not destemmed and aged in 30% new puncheons) offers smoking notes of red and black fruits, black olive, smoked earth and a huge meatiness. Full-bodied, silky and seamless, with a rock, mineral, backward style." (JD)

Winery Notes:
VINEYARD:
The vineyards we work with are farmed using the most up to date sustainable practices.

Sundance Vineyard:
(100%): One of the oldest vineyards on the Wahluke Slope, planted in 1997. The site is topsoil over gravel, sand and broken down basalt with more caliche than other sites in the Wahluke. The vineyard, because of its aspect, is also a later ripening site allowing for great concentration.

VINTAGE:
The 2015 harvest was the warmest vintage in recorded history, with fantastic viticulture and a great extended harvest. Because of this, we were able to make some of the most incredible wines to date. The vintage was dry and long with an early bud break and late harvest that had cool evenings to guarantee incredible quality. The 2015 wines have big complex flavors, good acidity and great balance.
