"An easy-drinking, balanced, medium-bodied red, with snappy black cherry, anise and tar notes. Light tannins show on the finish. Drink now through 2021. 2,000 cases made. -AN" (WS)

"Here is a new wine from the Cotarella family. The 2015 Merlot Sodale aspires to a very specific place in the marketplace: impressive quality at a very attractive price point. It's a win-win you say? Yes, but perhaps you get a little less personality and uniqueness as a result. This wine drinks as you would imagine a warm-vintage Merlot would. It offers soft cherry fruit and ripe blackberry with spice and leather.

Wines from Falesco all come from vineyards in Umbria, whereas the wines branded under the Famiglia Cotarella name all come from the Lazio region instead. The newest addition to this lineup is the low-priced Merlot Sodale that makes its inaugural performance with the 2015 vintage reviewed here." (WA)

"This is very rich and flavorful with lots of wood, vanilla character. Full body, round tannins and a flavorful finish. Needs a year or two to come together." (JS)
