2017 WINE SPECTATOR TOP 100: #58

"A beautiful wine, with dark fig, warm boysenberry reduction and alluring creamed raspberry flavors streaming forth, accented by graphite, black tea and pastis. There's a healthy dose of singed apple wood through the finish, but it's well-embedded as everything pulls together. Best from 2020 through 2040. 5,500 cases made.–JM " (WS)

"Showing a similar purity and elegance as the more expensive Boisrenard cuvée, the 2015 Châteauneuf du Pape is medium to full-bodied, nicely concentrated and balanced, with classic Provençal notes of black cherries, roasted herbs, garrigue and licorice. It lacks the finesse and tannin quality of the top cuvée, but it’s pretty darn impressive.

Brothers Frederic and Daniel Coulon made a very polished, elegant style of Châteauneuf du Pape and they’ve done well in both 2014 and 2015. While I suspect the 2015 will come in behind the incredible 2000 and 2001, it could easily be the best example of this cuvée in the past decade or more." (WA)

"Brilliant ruby-red. An aromatic bouquet evokes spicy red berry and cherry scents, along with hints of garrigue and peppery spices. Smooth and round on the palate, which offers sweet red fruit and floral pastille flavors and picks up a smoky element with air. Shows hints of darker fruit on a persistent finish that's framed by smooth, slow-building tannins." (VM)

"Leading off the 2015s, which were tasted from bottle, the classic 2015 Châteauneuf-du-Pape is a fresh, elegant traditional cuvée that offers perfumed notes of ripe strawberries, raspberries, and garrigue. With medium-bodied richness, integrated acidity, fine tannin and solid length, it's already drinking nicely, yet will keep for a decade or more. This cuvée is always a mélange of varieties, yet is primarily Grenache, with 15% Syrah and 10% Mourvèdre, aged 15 months in foudre and a tiny amount in new barrels." (JD)

Winery Notes:
Beautiful, deep and bright ruby color. Complex nose, with fruits as cherries, fresh blueberries with spices as rosemary, juniper and cedar. The mouth road like the nose. A crispy cherry with garrigue notes, brings the freshness on the finish. Very smooth tannins with a nice elegance.

70% Grenache, 10% Syrah, 10% Mourvèdre, and 10% Cinsault and other AOC varieties.
