"Coming from a terrific site in Ballard Canyon, the 2015 Grenache Larner Vineyard (100% Grenache fermented with 30% stems and aged in neutral barrels) sports a lighter ruby color to go with lots of peppery herbs, strawberries and black cherry aromas and flavors. Medium-bodied, elegant and silky on the palate with fine, yet present tannin. Give bottles a year and drink over the following 2-4.

Created in 2004 by Sonja Magdevski, the Casa Dumetz Wines focus on Rhône varieties from single vineyards in Santa Barbara County. Magdevski takes a page from the Brewer-Clifton playbook and harvest all her single vineyards on the same day and vinifies them identically, with the goal to let each site speak as loudly as possible. These wines see a touch of stems and are brought up in older barrels." (JD)

"Beautifully bright aromas of pomegranate, cherry, rose petals, hibiscus and cola draw the nose deeply into this bottling by Sonja Magdevski, who's focusing almost exclusively on Grenache these days. The tannins are firmer than expected for a lighter style, carrying impressive flavors of violet, cola and rose. It's delicate but grippy." (WE)
