"Black cherry and red plum flavors mingle with cocoa and licorice flavors in this generous red. Juicy acidity keeps this lively, while well-integrated tannins impart focus. A fruit-forward, modern style, with depth. Drink now through 2023. 10,000 cases made. -TM " (WS)

"The one La Mancha appellation red is the 2015 Single Vineyard, pure Tempranillo from the Finca Los Juncares, fermented in stainless steel and pressed before the fermentation is over and then matured in first and second use French casks for 14 months. This is from their own vineyard in the village of Las Mesas where Rafa Cañizares was born, and this is his flagship wine. It's a heady, ripe and generously oaked Tempranillo with plenty of spice and with marked flavors in a commercial style. It's easily recognizable as oaked Tempranillo, the oakier of the collection. 48,000 bottles produced.

Volver, the joint venture started between Jorge Ordoñez and winemaker Rafa Cañizares is now owned 100% by Rafa Cañizares. He has a winery in La Mancha, in the village of Casa de los Pinos in the province of Cuenca, and another one in Alicante, in Pinoso." (WA)

"Super-deep blackberry and mulberry fruit with some plum cake and black tea . The palate delivers a really saturated impression, plum essence. A silky finish. Drink now." (JS)

"From a site planted in 1957 and made from 100% Tempranillo, the inky colored 2015 Volver Single Vineyard is one of the gems in the lineup. With outstanding notes of black raspberries, blueberries, violets, hints of minerality, as well as a touch of toasty oak, this deep, medium to full-bodied 2015 is beautifully balanced and has fine tannin. You get a heck of a wine for not much buck here." (JD)

Winery Notes:
The Spanish enologist, Rafael Cañizares seeks to achieve the maximum expression of the Tempranillo grape grown in the environment. This winery is located in the best terroir of La Mancha found in the eastern region of the Denomination of Origin. The soil is the reason that the winery committed themselves to purchasing 228 acres of vineyards with an average age of 40 years. The sandy soils (up to 1 meter in depth) has an underlayment of large river stones.
