"A ripe, rounded, fruit-driven version delivering a large core of cassis, raspberry confiture and plum sauce flavors coated with toasted vanilla notes and a hint of melted red licorice. Has enough brambly energy through the finish to stay honest. Drink now through 2020. 523 cases made.–JM " (WS)

"From longtime Kanonkop winemaker Abrie Beeslaar comes this stellar expression of the grape. Ripe, full and powerful, it's wrapped in a plush yet firm and well-balanced package that should mature well through 2026. Upfront oaky notes of cocoa, toasted vanilla and cedar should further integrate into the rich plum, cassis and boysenberry fruit with time. Earthy and herbal tones of tree bark, fallen leaves and licorice root dance in the background." (WE)

Winery Notes:
"Abrie Beeslaar, winemaker at esteemed Stellenbosch property Kanonkop, now has his own label named Beeslaar. Abrie explains the origin of the grapes as being “a property about two kilometres from Kanonkop in the direction of the Bottelary Road” and the wine was matured for 17 months in French oak, 50% new. One of the most profound interpretations of the often tricky Pinotage grape that you can imagine. It’s the Grand Cru Burgundy of Pinotages: structured, fresh, complex, ageworthy and elegant despite its obvious concentration." -Jamie Goode

"Pinotage genius Abrie Beeslaar shows all his understanding of this tricky grape." -Tim Atkin, M.W.
