"Whitehall Lane’s inexpensive proprietary blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah and Zinfandel, the 2014 Tre Leoni Red Wine, has a healthy, saturated, ruby/purple color, loads of delicious blackberry and cassis fruit, not much complexity, but a mouthfilling, savory, luscious style. This is a sleeper of the vintage, and a terrific value from Napa. Drink it over the next 4-5 years." (WA)

"GOOD VALUE, Whitehall Lane's Tre Leoni is a proprietary red blend comprised of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah and Zinfandel, and is a good, gutsy working that delivers the goods when it comes to plentiful, well-ripened fruit. It keys on cassis and dark berries with elements of herbs, sweet oak, cedar and black tea in support. Nuance and restraint are not on its list of achievements, at least not at this point, but richness and depth most certainly are, and among its most laudable traits is a price tag so surprisingly low that we admit to having checked it twice. Winery Notes:
THE WINE:
Three generations of the Leonardini Family (Tre Leoni) are responsible for this expertly made proprietary blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah and Zinfandel. Whitehall Lane and the Leonardini’s are known for making sophisticated, elegant Cabernets. Tre Leoni, while a serious blend, is fun and distinctly delicious.

THE VINTAGE:
The 2014 growing year was picture perfect with warm spring and summer days making optimum conditions for flavor development in every grape cluster. The Merlot and Zinfandel grapes were the first to ripen in mid-September followed by the Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah in late September and mid-October.

WINEMAKING:
Each grape varietal was fermented and aged as separate lots in French and American oak barrels. Winemaker Jason Moulton tasted through each lot and put the final blend together in early 2016 after aging 15 months. The lion’s share of the wine is Cabernet Sauvignon with equal, lesser percentages of Merlot, Syrah and a small amount of Zinfandel.

TASTING NOTES:
This ferociously fun blend has depth, balance and big flavors. Up front, the aromas are dense blackberries, licorice, blueberry crumble and a touch of croissant. It bursts with expansive flavors of blueberries, blackberries, and mixed berry jam. This wine has great texture that ultimately finishes with round, silky smooth tannins.
