"Offers a mix of savory dark berry, tobacco, herb, licorice and light mocha, you get more wood and cedar flavors than fruit at this point. Well structured, it should benefit from cellaring. Drink now through 2028. 19,637 cases made. -JL " (WS)

"The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Oakville is a blend of 81% Cabernet Sauvignon, 13% Cabernet Franc, and the rest Malbec, Petit Verdot and Merlot. Some spicy oak, crème de cassis and background barrique smells a re present in this youthful, classic Cabernet Sauvignon made by the long-time winemaker at Mondavi, Geneviève Janssens. This wine is still relatively tightly knit, especially for a 2014, and requires a bit of coaxing, but the black and red currant fruit, the classic Pauillac-like cedar wood, and spice box are all present in this is medium to full-bodied wine. It should be given 3-4 years of bottle age then drunk over following 20-25 years.

It goes without saying that probably no one did more for the image, the quality and the prestige of Napa Valley than Robert Mondavi. He was “the” ambassador for the region, and while he certainly lived to see its rise to glory and fame, I doubt that even he envisioned the remarkable wines that are now emanating in prolific quantities from this Shangri-La for growing grapes." (WA)

"Mondavi's 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Oakville is creamy, ample and expressive, especially considering it was bottled just two weeks prior to this tasting. Dark red cherry, spice, leather and menthol infuse this hugely appealing, mid-weight Cabernet Sauvignon. The 2014 was sourced 95% from To-Kalon and 5% from MBar Ranch." (VM)

"Aromas of flower, tile and currant follow through to a full body that's nevertheless tight and reserved. Such beauty at the finish. A pretty wine. Hard not to drink now." (JS)

"This wine has a juicy core of cranberry, currant and red cherry that's both powerful and graceful, exuding full-bodied richness within a context of supportive oak and tannin. The finish is dusted in coffee and nutmeg." (WE)

Winery Notes:
This wine strikes a captivating balance between power and finesse showing its classic Oakville Cabernet style. The delicious core of layered black fruit is imbued with rich mocha and toasty vanilla with subtle traces of fresh bay and black pepper. It’s dense, rich mouth feel, complexity and long finish will delight your palette.
