"Brilliant purple. Deep-pitched aromas of ripe blackberry and cherry, complemented by violet and black pepper nuances and a hint of vanilla. Fleshy and broad on the palate, offering plush black and blue fruit flavors that are energized by a spicy element. Pliant tannins give shape and grip to the nicely persistent dark fruit flavors." (VM)

"This kitchen-sink blend of Zinfandel, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Grenache, Petit Verdot and Petite Sirah shows squashed black plum, caramelized blueberries, mocha and a sweet cedar touch on the nose. Toasty oak flavors carry the palate, with vanilla, brown sugar, beef char, baked blueberries and a touch of Vietnamese coffee." (WE)

Winery Notes:
The word ‘opaque’ means “impenetrable to light” and refers to the dark, inky, impenetrable color of our family’s proprietary blend. We were so impressed by the Zinfandel, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petite Sirah, Grenache, and Petit Verdot grapes from our estate vineyards in Paso Robles, that we reserved them for this special blend. After aging in French and American barrels for 14 months, our hand-crafted artisan blend reveals ripe flavors of raspberry and blackberry with notes of spice and vanilla. Enjoy the darkness!
