2018 ORANGE COUNTY FAIR: GOLD MEDAL, 92 POINTS

"There is just enough wood to notice on the overtly spicy nose of both red and blue pinot fruit cut with plum and violet scents that is ripe but fresh. The suave, round and delicious medium-bodied flavors possess a seductive mouth feel while delivering good persistence on the balanced, dusty and persistent finish. This will need a few years to develop better overall depth but the balance and underlying material are such that more complexity should certainly develop." (BH)

"This is a medium-bodied vineyard-specific wine, offering warm aromas of baked bread, cola and clove. The warmer elements are complemented by fresh raspberry, rhubarb and wild vanilla, making for a varietally satisfying experience on the nose and palate." (WE)

"14.5% alc., pH 3.69, TA 0.69, 50 cases, $58. 100% Pommard clone. 30% whole cluster. Aged 20 months in French oak barrels, 20% new. Bottled unfined and unfiltered. · Moderate reddish purple color in the glass. Exhilarating aromas of fresh Bing cherry, spice, vanillin and nutty oak. Polished and refreshing on the palate, with the mid weight essence of glorious black cherry, cherry cola and black raspberry flavors. Plenty of ripe sap, but vibrant, with a juicy acid underbelly. Lovely balance, with silken tannins and a compliment of oak. Still charged with deep cherry flavor and juiciness when tasted the following day from a previously opened and re-corked bottle. Uncommon verve in a seductively-appointed Pinot that is welcoming now. Score: 94. Reviewed February 13, 2017" (POP)

"95 POINTS: It is an honor for winemaker, Heather Manross, to be ranked alongside such iconic producers as Williams Selyem and Morlet who also produce wine from Lone Oak Vineyard. This single-vineyard, boutique production offering from Manross Wines is a beautiful and pure expression of the pinot noir varietal and the renowned 2014 vintage. Our panel described it as a super-expressive wine that bursts from the glass with exotic red currants and berries, sweet and savory spices and incredible minerality. Plain and simply, it's superb and with only 50 cases produced you?re going to want to jump on this special bottle of wine." - (The Vinformants)

Winery Notes:
TASTING NOTES:
This single-vineyard Pinot Noir is brilliant garnet in color. The bouquet reveals high pitched aromas of brisk red currant, rose petal nuances and pain grillé that gain complexity with time in the glass. Clean and lively on the palate, offering fresh mixed berries, lifted savory notes and zesty minerality. This Pinot has a plush structure that offers a seamless experience from start to finish. Drinking beautifully now and will continue to mature with the optimal drinking window between 2018-2023.

VINEYARD:
Lone Oak Vineyard is located in California's Russian River Valley in Sonoma County and is sought after by legendary producers such as the original California Cult Pinot, Williams Selyem, as well as Morlet and Carte Blanche, to name a few. Reaching elevations of up to 200 ft above the Russian River, this hillside vineyard produces loose clusters that ripen evenly and small berries with concentrated flavors. The vineyard has spreckles soil, a mixture of blue shale and red clay, which combined with the aspect, allows for perfect drainage and healthy fruit. The vineyard generally has cool morning fog, warm afternoon temperatures condusive for ripening and very cool nights which creates balanced, fresh berries with minimal intervention.

WINEMAKING:
Heather's approach is rooted in balance and non-manipulation during every phase of the winemaking process, focused on achieving an age-worthy style that reflects the purity of the fruit. By sourcing fruit from meticulously maintained vineyards in California's cooler appellations, the result is fresh and structured Pinot Noir that expresses its terroir with poise.
