"Juicy cherry and strawberry flavors mingle with vanilla, fresh herb and spice notes in this lively red. Light tannins and tangerine acidity keep this focused. The spicy, floral finish brings you back for another sip. Drink now through 2022. 23,950 cases made, 500 cases imported. -TM" (WS)

"The 2014 Reserva is usually a blend of 85% Tempranillo with 10% Graciano and 5% Mazuelo and Garnacha that wants to express the character of the estate, its rocky limestone soils and ripe character. It fermented in stainless steel and aged in 50% French and 50% American oak barrels for two years. It's subtly balsamic, with faint aromas of cigar ash, incense and also some dried flower petals, spices and a touch of ripeness. The palate is medium-bodied with moderate ripeness, quite contrasted with the sensation on the nose. 287,960 bottles and 1,500 magnums were produced. It was bottled in July 2017.

There is a big change at Contino. From the 2017 harvest, the new technical director is Jorge Navascues, a young winemaker with lots of experience from CariƱena. Their unique microclimate means that in years like 2017 and 2014, they did not have frost or rain, respectively, two big incidents that marked the wines in most of the regions." (WA)

"Deep brilliant ruby. Smoke-accented cherry, black raspberry, mocha and licorice scents are energized by suggestions of candied rose and cracked pepper. Sweet and concentrated on the palate, offering smoky, intense red and dark berry flavors that slowly become more lively with air. Smoothly blends power and energy and finishes very long and spicy, with rounded tannins and lingering florality." (VM)

"Berry and oak aromas are not overly deep. On the palate, this is more defined, with lively acidity and popping fruit. Plum, spiced berry and currant flavors end with chocolaty oak, nutmeg and blueberry notes. Unlike most Contino wines, this one seems ready for near-term consumption; drink through 2024. -Michael Schachner" (WE)

Winery Notes:
Manual harvest from a selection of our estate vineyards. After desteming, the grapes were fermented in 12,300 liters stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature between 82 and 86 degrees Fahrenheit. Total maceration time was between 15 to 20 days. The wine was placed into a mix of used French and American oak. Racking was done every 6 months. After two years in barrel, the wine was bottled and spent another two years in our underground cellars.

Deep red garnet. Intense nose of red fruits, some smoke, gloves, medium to full body palate, fresh, with a spiced finish. Well balanced, fine, very fresh, juicy.
