"The 2014 Pinot Noir Sanford & Benedict Vineyard is another terrific Pinot Noir from Chanin. Rose petals, strawberry, spice and forest floor notes all emerge from this medium-bodied, silky, elegant beauty that never puts a foot wrong. Aged 15 months in 15% new French oak, I’d drink it over the coming 5-7 years, but wouldn’t be surprised to see it evolve longer.

Pulling from top sites in Santa Barbara County (Los Alamos, Santa Maria and the Sta. Rita Hills), winemaker Gavin Chanin makes incredibly balanced, elegant and pure wines that are always up with the creme de la creme in a vintage. His 2014s across the board are outstanding." (WA)

"The 2014 Pinot Noir Sanford & Benedict Vineyard is striking in its beauty. Dark, layered and inviting, the Sanford & Benedict is superb. There is something magical about S&B. Gavin Chanin has captured it all. Deep, pliant and expressive, the 2014 has a lot to say. What a gorgeous wine this is." (VM)

"Extremely delicate on the nose, this wine from the historic vineyard shows bruised yellow grapefruit, sliced nectarine and crushed chalk aromas. The evolving palate starts daintily with cut apple and nectarine, then warms into seared peach, buttered popcorn and ripe pear flavors. A chalky, seashell-like structure and pithy texture ensure a long, interesting life. Drink 2018 through 2034. -Matt Kettmann" (WE)

Winery Notes:
Dark ruby in color, this wine is extremely complex with nuances of black cherry, tobacco leaf and dried earth. The palate is fleshy, with structured tannins and dense, dark fruit on the finish.
