"This is inviting, with a core of dark plum, blackberry and blueberry reduction notes scored by cocoa and Black Forest cake accents. Shows a plush feel on the finish, but isn't heavy-handed, ending with a graphite echo. Drink now through 2026. 2,000 cases made, 200 cases imported. -JM" (WS)

"The 2013 Late Bottled Vintage Port is a blend of Touriga Nacional (50%), Touriga Franca (40%) and Tinta Roriz (10%). It has 90 grams of residual sugar and was bottled unfiltered and with a long cork after 48 months of aging in wooden vats. In 2013, it is not unusual for some wines to be a little short in concentration. Classic in flavor and aromatics, on the good side, this seems only modestly concentrated this year. It is bright, friendly and tastes great, but it seems just a bit short on all other fronts. It is not particularly intense either."(WA)

This unfiltered Late-Bottled Vintage Port was made from high quality grapes from Quinta da Romaneira. Trodden by foot and vinified in lagares, as for their Vintage Port, the Romaneira Unfiltered LBV is a classic Port wine, with the structure power and finesse to satisfy any lover of Vintage Port. Aged in Barrels for five years before bottling, rather than the two years for a Vintage Port, it is ready to drink now, but will age for many years in bottle if you choose to keep it.

Varietal Composition: Field Blend of 50% Touriga Nacional, 30% Touriga Francesa, 10% Tinta Roriz and 10% Tinto Cão

Grapes were trodden by foot to obtain the must, then during fermentation macerate to obtain the best possible extraction in the lagares from the Quinta. Five years in old wooden vats, in the cellars of the Quinta in the Demarcated Region of the Douro Valley before bottling.

Tasting Notes:
Deep rich ruby color with intense nose of crushed berries and red fruits. Rich and elegant on the palate with spice, raisins and red fruit flavors. Lovely balanced with a velvety but firm tannic structure that’s leads to a luscious long finish. Ideally served as an accompaniment to cheese, dessert, or on its own at the end of a meal.” This wine is unfiltered and will continue to develop in the bottle. As a result, it may throw a light deposit and need decanting.

The 1,100 acre spread of Quinta da Romaneira is widely considered one of the Douro Valley’s most breathtaking estates. The winery began producing port in 1872, but was not legally allowed to bottle under its own name until 1986 when DO changes gave single quintas the authority to do so. Christian Seely purchased Romaneira in 2004 with plans to put the winery shoulder to shoulder with the Douro’s top names in terms of reputation and quality. Seely and winemaker Antonio Agrellos understand what such ambition means – They are the dynamic duo behind the much celebrated rebirth of another great property, Quinta do Noval (which sits literally next door), which they’ve operated for the past twenty years. The entire Romaneira vineyard estate is classified “A” (the highest mark that can be obtained in the Douro) and the house focuses almost completely on unfortified dry wines and vintage style port.
