Winery Notes:
NOTES:
This classic red blend showcases the red fruits, cherries, strawberries and raspberries of grenache, along with white pepper spice. Late ripening mourvedre from Larner Vineyard in Ballard canyon brings ample tannins, floral aromas and earthy qualities to the blend. Soft on the palate, but with good acidity, this 2013 GSM blend is drinking really well right now.

VINEYARDS :
The 2013 Delayed In Glass GSM is sourced from 2 distinguished vineyards in the Santa Ynez and Los Alamos valleys of Santa Barbara County. The grenache and syrah come from Alisos vineyard in the Los Alamos valley, the mourvedre from Larner vineyard in Ballard canyon of the Santa Ynez valley. These vineyards are well known in the region for producing only the highest quality fruit through ecologically responsible practices. All fruit is hand-picked.

WINEMAKING:
All varietal components are vinified separately. The grapes are carefully hand-sorted before going into small open top fermenters for a 6 day cold soak prior to fermentation. Upon completion of the primary ferment, the grenache and mourvedre are pressed to barrel. The syrah is left on the skins for up to 35 additional days of extended maceration before going to barrel. The wines were left on their gross lees until completion of malo-lactic fermentation at the end of the summer following harvest. They then remained in barrel for another 2 years before being blended and back to barrel for 4 more months before bottling in December of 2016, for a total of 36 months of barrel aging.
