"The 2013 Barolo Bussia is my favorite wine among Marco Parusso's new releases. This wine shows an extraordinary level of richness and softness that speaks to the unique winemaking style proposed by this innovative producer. The Bussia cru tends to produce softer and finer fruit characteristics. The bouquet delivers elegant notes of wild berry, forest floor and white truffle with mineral notes such as pencil shaving delicately tucked in at the back. The wine sees up to 60% stem inclusion and maceration times are long. This Barolo is articulate and profoundly expressive." (WA)

"Another super-expressive wine, the 2013 Barolo Bussia is full of personality. Like all of these 2013s, the Bussia needs time to shed some baby fat. Today, the interplay of lifted aromatics and textured, layered fruit is compelling. Even with all of its richness, the 2013 stays light on its feet." (VM)

"This is one of the greatest wines I have ever had from here. So much ripe cherry, raspberry and floral character. Medium body, super-refined tannins and a long and flavorful finish. So much going on here. Better in 2021." (JS)

"Exotic spice, vanilla, dark-skinned fruit and French oak aromas lift out of the glass. The palate shows toasted oak, coconut, espresso raspberry and cherry alongside tight close-grained tannins that grip the austere finish. It’s still on its oak so give it time to come around." (WE)

Winery Notes:
The Barolo Bussia offers a multitude of delicate scents and a range of notes ranging from floral rosehip to more balsamic notes. Spicy, fruity, raspberry and blueberry. The palate is wrapped by fine-grained, silky tannins, inviting you to taste this wine at all stages of its long evolution.

This well respected producer offers a unique perspective into the grand Nebbiolo grape. Located right at the border between the Castiglion Falletto and Monforte d’Alba appellation of Barolo, the brother and sister team, Marco and Tiziana Parusso, are growing 100% of their own grapes in 18 different parcels between the two subappellations. A young team of very talented vineyard workers carefully educated by Marco harvest superb lots of grapes every year. In 2006 celebrating 20 vintages under the helm of Marco, the Parusso winery stands out by pronouncing its own path. A winemaking process was defined in this winery that is already leading example for many young vintners around the world, many of them in our portfolio. Since the 1980’s, Armando Parusso’s son and daughter, Marco and Tiziana Parusso, have taken an ever increasing role in their family’s great Barolo estate. In 1986 Marco, fresh from enology school, vinified his first Barolo and with Tiziana’s support, they have not stopped since, with an approach of great enthusiasm and analytical precison, conceiving their barolos with greater elegance and more transparent vineyard characteristics every year. A newly finished winery in the year 2000 allowed Marco to finally age his wines under the conditions he considers optimal. Therefore he was able to make the most of this stunning vintage with a concept of purity, elevating his wines to new levels of complexity.
