85% Grenache 15% field blend

"This has an old-school feel, with brick dust, coffee and dried bay leaf notes accenting the core of dried cherry, currant and blackberry fruit. Slightly leathery tannins underscore the finish, along with a garrigue accent. Displays good integration and length. Best from 2018 through 2026. 200 cases made. –JM" (WS)

Winery Notes:
This special cuvée from Guillaume Gonnet is carefully selected from vines aged 110 years or older. This impressive wine embodies everything that can be desired from Grenache — it shows incredibly juicy, high-toned raspberry and strawberry preserves, smoky herbs, and brown sugar. To sweeten the deal, it also offers incredible length. Made exclusively from a 2.5-acre plot, availability is very limited. It has been vinified and aged in cement pyramid and 600 L barrels.

According to local archives, the Gonnet family has been settled in Bédarrides since 1600. The domain’s holdings are made up of several vineyards, most of which are named after local landmarks, including Font de Michelle, La Crau, and La Pierre Plantée. Etienne Gonnet created Font de Michelle in 1950. Following in his footsteps, the domain is now managed by Etienne’s grandchildren, Bertrand and Guillaume Gonnet, the creator of these signature cuvées and labels.
