QUITE DECENT, APPEALING SONOMA CABERNET FRANC FOR ONLY $11.95, CLOSED OUT FROM $25.00 A BOTTLE. 2013 ANTARES INSPIRED KNIGHTS VALLEY SONOMA CABERNET FRANC

The Sonoma region of Knights Valley is secluded and protected from Sonoma counties coastal cooling patterns; hence allowing it to be a quite good area to produce Cabernet Franc exhibiting fine berry fruits. Actually the wine is a fascinating blend of 86% Cabernet Franc, 6% Cabernet Sauvignon, a rare 2% dab of the Spanish grape Touriga Nacional and to top things off a 6% dollop that simply bares the name, “Proprietor’s Red Blend.” If such multi-variety freights you off a bit, don’t worry for the end result is a hearty wine, with currant and plum fruit, a balanced tannin level adding to a good body and a quite pleasant refreshing acid level.

The kind of wine I can see going extremely well with a fine hamburger or roasted beef or lamb sandwich and an interesting addition to a Chinese style beef, chicken or duck dishes and even a medium style Indian curry and many a meat laden Thai dish.

The wine is now at its height, and should continue to be a good companion for the rest of this decade.
