WE THINK THIS IS JUST CLASSIC!

"Tangy, with a more-modest mix of Meyer lemon and Key lime flavors set against a lightly herbal backdrop of thyme and chive notes. Just a touch lean in the end. Drink now. 4,800 cases made." (WS)

"One of the most famous family names of the Loire Valley is Reverdy, and this particular one, Jean Reverdy, has turned out an outstanding 2011 Sancerre La Reine Blanche. Clean, pure notes of white flowers, quince, melon, and white peach are all present in this surprisingly opulent, fleshy, rather exuberant and flamboyant style of Sancerre, which is quite dry but surprisingly plush. Drink it over the next several years, as I don’t think it will be very long-lived. " (WA)

IMPRESSIVE LOIRE SANCERRE – SAUVIGNON BLANC AT $22.95 2011 SANCERRE, LA REINE BLANCHE – Vinified J. Revendy

Of the half dozen or so Sancerre’s I’ve had during the past few weeks this lively Sancerre with classic Sauvignon-Blanc character and a fine crisp acid balance is the only one I could truly recommend.

Just is case it slipped your mind all Sancerre’s, that like its neighbor Pouilly-Fume, are upper Loire wines whose whites must be 100% Sauvignon Blanc. In describing this wine I feel Robert Parker’s Loire reviewed does it full justice when rates the wine a 90/91 and writes, “ One of the most famous family names of the Loire Valley is Reverdy, and this particular one, Jean Reverdy, has turned out an outstanding 2011 Sancerre La Reine Blanche. Clean, pure notes of white flowers, quince, melon, and white peach are all present in this surprisingly opulent, fleshy, rather exuberant and flamboyant style of Sancerre, which is quite dry but surprisingly plush. Drink it over the next several years, as I don’t think it will be very long-lived.”

Winery Notes:
100% Sauvignon Blanc

Single vineyard. Vinification: cold fermentation in stainless steel tank, no oak, no malolactic fermentation.

Sweet, fruity and clean. White flowers (acacia, jasmine) and citrus fruits aromas. Perfectly balanced.

A delicious wine, perfect with fish dishes, especially salmon, and a local goat cheese Crottin de Chavignol.
