"Pink and zingy. Watermelon and peppermint flavors dance lightly through the dry finish. Drink now. 6,950 cases made. " (WS)

Winery Notes:
Packed with plush-textured cherry and zingy raspberry flavors that practically explode on the palate. Dry, cleansing and refreshing with a pleasing tart edge to the fruit. A sheer delight to drink! This sensational Rose of Sangiovese won Best of Class/Gold/Sweepstakes Award at the 2011 San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition.

The 2011 harvest was one that defines the adage, “All’s well that ends well.” Extremely cold weather in late November of 2010 caused extensive bud damage in many Washington locations, which made the 2011 crop a challenge from the start. Cool, late spring weather delayed bud break by two to three weeks in much of the Columbia Valley, while summer temperatures followed suit, with heat unit accumulation consistently two to three weeks behind most seasons. This potentially disastrous set of conditions was reversed by an unusually warm, extended and generally dry fall. Crop levels were low due to the 2010 freeze and flavor development came late which ensured crisp acidity and a northern European balance to the wines. With all of its tribulations, this is the sort of season which defines the uniqueness of our northern climate. Now that we’re on the other side of a very interesting harvest, we can confidently say the 2011 wines will delight us with their quality.
