"($15) Straw-gold. Leesy, smoky and buttery notes complement ripe pear and tangerine peel aromas; the oak component dominates, though. Then more oaky on the palate, with ripe toffee apple and candied pear flavors joined by vanilla, scorched earth and torrefaction notes. Finishes long and full, but the oakiness dominates everything else; if I hadn't known this was a pinot grigio, I would have just as easily thought it to be chardonnay." (IWC)
